Selina Mary Kingdon, usually known as Lina was a member of the Plymouth Bretheren. She was the daughter of Francis Kingdon, an Exeter based lace and fringe maker, who was at least the third of his family to be so. His grandfather Zachary (Zachariah) Kingdon has a shop in Cathedral Close, Exeter, and his father also had a shop there and later in the High Street.
Little is known of the elder Zachariah. He married twice, firstly to Joan Yeo, in 1730 with one son, John, born in 1731. Joan died in 1732 and in 1739 Zachariah married Frances Bows. From this marrige there were five children.
