Le couriel is a neologism. The French authorities do not like to use English words for new concepts. Terms like "Le weekend" are frowned upon. So is e-mail. le couriel is a contraction of le courier electonique, (electronic message) which is a brilliant creation.

My e-mail address is "cloaked" using a very simple programme which sits on my desktop ready for when I need it.

The site has a couple of popups but it is a really useful versatile and simple programme its worth it.
